Orange Mint

Orange mint is one of our most favorite of the mints. Its leaves have a distinctive round shape and are a very pretty shade of green tinged with reds. Orange mint has many culinary uses including teas, mint jellies and sauces. Orange mint is easy to grow. It will tend to spread, planting it in a pot is ok. Orange mint is perfumed with Bergamot overtones, and is sometimes called Bergamot mint. It is valued for its unique, citrusy aroma and flavor. It makes a wonderful addition to iced tea, fruit desserts, and potpourris.

The Orange mint pictured here is in its early growing stages in the Spring. The roundness of the mint's leaves is most apparent at this part of the year.

In late Fall or early Winter Orange mint begins to turn very pretty shades of reds and purples.
