White flowers in late spring to early summer.
Description:
Easlily
mistaken for mullein or lamb's ears, silver sage is highly
touchable. This is one biennial to grow for the unique foliage and not for the
flower. Like other hairy plants, it thrives in dry sites and hot sun. Plant
it
between rocks and surround it with lacy verbena, or plant it solo in a pot.
As the
summer heats up, the fuzzy foliage will get bigger and whiter. Spikes of flowers
will appear in the second year. Excellent at the front of the border where the
foliage can be seen and appreciated. Short lived perennial, but spectacular
for a
couple of years. Grows only 12-18 inches.
